Latest post was on the 22nd and actually already on the morning of the 24th I was in Rumanian mountains hiking

The trip was booked many months ago and I have been so looking forward to it. No expectations at all, not heard of how the hiking is although heard loads on how beautiful the countryside is. Great to have friend that want to explore.

Early Thursday morning we flew south to Bucharest where our local guides waited. From 15C in Stockholm to 25-30C in Bucharest, not bad.. not bad at all.

Just in time for dinner we were sat a vineyard tasting the local sparkling wines, do I have to say anything more? Great recharge for the hikes to come…

After a good night sleep in the mountain village Magura, we took on a peak of Piatra Mica at 1800m in the National park Piatra Craiului.

After 8h with great views and lunch on the top of the world, we were back to the village where it was time for the well needed rest.

Day two was, didn’t think it was possible, even better. The weather, the views and the steep climb. 7 hours later and a climb of 1200m up to the peak of Varful Batrana at 2200m in the nature park Bucegi, the legs were sore 🙂

Not so much from climbing up, but from coming down. Remember – always tougher hiking down an hill than up.

Oh my, the trip went to fast and it was the last day – Sunday. A rather flat hike for two hours before it was time to get back home – 14h later…

Think that all the cross-fit, biking, running, strength training – it paid off. No sore legs, no sore ankles. Especially proud of my feet as I did all the hikes in my Brooks running shoes. Although, also a big thanks to the trekking poles 🙂

Will have to get back there! A huge population of wolfs, bears and lynx, and we didn’t see a single trace.

Since the hike, I’ve done my first Parkrun in Huddinge and also been to ’Running – Inspiration day’ at Bosön. Let’s go through that another day 🙂
